Utility model pertains to construction, namely to TERMO glazing units, used for glazing buildings and construction works, facade glazing, glazing of small architectural forms, private houses, glazing from floors to ceilings, elimination of convection process at swimming pools and prevention of condensate formation on internal glass surfaces (drops of water).

Insulating glass units contains not less than two glass sheets: hardened heated glass with low-emission (Low-E) coating, placed at some distance from other with formation of internal enclosed space, spatial frame that determines limits of the above enclosed space, filled by dry air or inert gas (such as Argon or other). Virtually any sheet glass may act as protective glass: transparent float-glass, sun protection glass, Low-E glass or triplex. For the purpose of electric safety, sufficiently thick hardened glass, thermo-strengthened simple or laminated glass, or even a non-hardened triplex (category not less than 4.4.1) as well as non-hardened glass (8 mm in thickness) may be used.
These glass types are combined into single- or double- chambered glazing units, triplexes or a combination thereof.
In winter when external temperatures fall below zero, window structures become major sources of heat loss (up to 40%). The more glazed surface a house has, the more heat is lost from inside the premise due to convection, inasmuch as internal glass surface temperature upon external temperatures of -5oC and below, doesn’t exceed 8-10 oC. Premise temperature should be within 22-26oC. Difference between glass surface temperature and internal premise temperature reaches up to 16oC, which in turn results in movement of air masses (convection) within the premise, leading to intense heat exchange and dust movement. Houses with bathrooms and swimming pools are almost impossible to rid of humidity condensed on window glass.

Traditional windows and glass roofs are passive sections of external structure lining. Their primary task is to provide external view, allow penetration of daylight into premises as well as provision of temperature insulation and waterproofing. Abilities of reacting to internal and external temperature conditions are quite limited in standard windows.
TERMO glazing unit is an active structure: it serves a temperature screen (equalizing glass surface temperature five degrees above the internal premise temperature), preventing formation of water condensate on the cold internal window surface. Temperature adjustment system is made in a manner that glass heating depends on temperature mode, set for the room and when heat is lost from the premise, glass replenishes such losses and compensates the temperature drop in the room. Programming unit allows you to adjust temperature according to time of the day (day-night mode) and independently chooses optimum energy consumption mode. Due to that, electrically-heated windows will activate only when internal conditions so require. Afterwards, heating function will be automatically deactivated and glazing units (triplexes) will continue their operation in the same manner standard structures do (windows, roofs, overhangs, screens).
These products employ cutting-edge innovations. Such as a combination of various flat glass (sun protection glass or such with passive sun protection coating) with SMART electronic glass. And sometimes even as a transparent/non-transparent triplex.

TERMO glazing units are used both in industrial construction (for windows, glass overhangs and glass roofs) and for private buildings and glazing apartments with large window structures. Another advantage of these glazing units is that they can be installed on existing window constructions, simply by replacing previous glazing with THERMO products while maintaining the current status of already completed works. TERMO triplexes are used, for example in glass roofs of cold premises, winter gardens, external glass overhangs as well as for glazing boats, trains, etc.
When power is supplied to electrodes, fixed on the sides of heated TERMO glass, low-emission glass coating starts conducting electricity warming up in process.
Performance factor (over 90%).
Owing to flow of current, resulting from low emission of glass coating, performance factor of insulation glass, used for heating or maintaining comfortable temperature is extremely high (over 90%). Performance factor in this case means the portion of power consumed by glass that can be used for heating the premise. If no power is supplied to the glass, it serves as an ordinary window with high heat insulation (0.93 W/cm2).
Upon manufacture, glazing units are filled with Argon, that increases heat-insulation properties when disconnected from power source and decreases heat radiated towards the outside. Heat loss of TERMO glazing units doesn’t exceed 5-7%. It means that upon internal glass heating, its outside glass temperature will correspond to external air temperature.
TERMO glazing units may be used in virtually all frame structures: wooden, PVC, aluminum or steel, be it openable or stationary frame structures and separating sections.
Depending on item design, glazing units comply with all relevant safety and security requirements related to glass structures.
Current-conducting coating of the heated glazing unit is always placed between the glasses, therefore no human contact with current-conducting surface may ever occur.
All glass is hardened, therefore much more durable than non-hardened glass.
If the hardened glass is broken, it separates into small pieces with rounded edges. Damage of current-conductive coating results in breakage of electric circuit.
Electrodes are placed inside protected internal space of glazing units, covered in non-conductive polysulphide, therefore upon glass breakage, no human contact may occur.
Standard product electric protection class is IP 44. It is also possible to install IP 67 protection.
Electric power of glazing units:
Primary goal of heated windows is to create a «thermal curtain» effect (i. e. maintaining the temperature inside the premise while significantly saving secondary heat sources, such as gas / solid fuel, electric power) in order to increase overall comfort. Window heating usually substitutes central heating radiators, installed under the windows. If the window surface is large (correlation between glazed surface and floor surface), such windows may be used as a main heat source. But in order to achieve equal temperature effect on the floor and ceiling levels, it is necessary to provide additional (30% of floor surface) heating (be it electric or water).
Electric power is determined according to specific purposes:
— For heating premises without additional heat sources glass temperature constitutes 20-50°C, and power from 30 to 100 W/m2.
Window electric connection layout:
Power is supplied via 2x1.5 mm2 dual-insulation cable, connected to edge of the glass.
Standard operational voltage for heated glass is 220V AC.
Power per m2 of glass is determined by means of electrode connection (for example, in rectangular glasses on longer and shorter sides), as well as by means of selection of supply voltage for groups and connection types. Smaller and separate glasses can be connected via the dimmer (adjustment by voltage).
Glass surface temperature is controlled via thermostat, equipped with two sensors. The first one is attached to surface of one controlled group glasses, while the other one is installed on the outside. Inside sensor reads premise temperature as well, compares it with the set one and adjusts glass heating, required to maintain set parameters, thus compensating heat losses inside the room when they occur.
Thermal comfort within premises equipped with TERMO glazing units is better than in premises, equipped with even the most expensive ordinary glazing units. Draft that occurs due to cold surface of the glass and negatively impacts the room microclimate is eliminated when internal glass temperature is equalized with that inside the room. This is most useful for people with asthma or the ones allergic to household dust.
Electrically heated insulation glass with high rate of heat-transfer (У-value < 1 W/m2K), with 30-100 W/m2 power is able to maintain temperature within +20 to +50oC range while remaining dry and not leading to formation of condensate (now dew point at slope surfaces, meaning no mold formation), even if the outside temperature is 35oC.
When you install TERMO glazing units, you no longer require central heating radiators below windows, may use the floor space more effectively and even increase the amount of daylight coming to your room by installing larger windows. This is why many restaurants choose TERMO glazing units, in this manner increasing the number of tables near windows in winter without causing any inconvenience to visitors.
Buildings, constructed from structural insulated panels possess very high heat-preservation properties. Therefore, maintaining comfortable temperature requires four times less energy carriers when compared to ordinary brick or gas concrete block houses. Heat produced by heated windows is capable of heating the entire house and save money otherwise spent on additional heating (i. e. radiators, boilers, water distribution hoses, water circulation motors, including design-related expenses). It also allows to increase living space due to absence of radiators and requires no water draining when you leave for winter holidays. Heated surface is calculated depending on project type and window configurations!
